150th Anniversary
To commemorate Santa Monica’s 150th anniversary, the community is coming together from July through December 2025 to reflect on our shared history—honoring achievements and sharing stories, while acknowledging the injustices that have shaped our past.
This milestone marks 150 years since July 14, 1875, when the town of Santa Monica was first mapped out and the initial plots of land were sold.
As we look back, we also look forward—celebrating Santa Monica as a hub of innovation and collective civic engagement. From trailblazing advancements in art, culture, sports, technology, architecture, and environmentalism to bold, community-driven solutions, Santa Monica has long been a place where people come together to do things no one has tried before.
This anniversary is not just a reflection on where we’ve been, but a launchpad for imagining what comes next.

Community Events Calendar
Explore all Anniversary events happening across the city from July through December 2025.
Microgrants
For community-led reflections, the City of Santa Monica is offering microgrants between $500 and $5,000 to support free, public events that take place within Santa Monica city limits between July and December 2025.
Projects must align with one or more of the goals of the 150th Anniversary: celebrating community history and diversity; honoring achievement; addressing inequities, and fostering connection.
The application deadline is rolling through November 10, 2025.
Submit an Event
Community members are invited to submit events for inclusion on the Santa Monica 150th Anniversary Community Events Calendar. Events must take place between July and December 2025 and should celebrate the people, cultures, and stories that have shaped Santa Monica over the past 150 years.
Marketing Materials
To help align events related to the citywide celebration, a unifying graphic, poster and social media asset templates are available for use in digital and printed marketing materials.
Anniversary Graphic
The downloadable zip file contains PNG, EPS, JPG, and GIF formats of the graphic.
Social Media Assest Frames
The downloadable zip file contains pre-sized social media asset frames for Instagram, Facebook, X(Twitter) and LinkedIn, for images/graphics to be placed.
For website banners, digital ads, Facebook Event Covers, or print materials, use the included Adobe Illustrator or EPS vector file.
Poster Templates
There are four horizontal and vertical poster templates. The sizes include: a standard 8 ½ x 11-inch letter-sized poster, an 11x17-inch small poster, a medium 18x24-inch option, and a large 24x36-inch poster.
